Happy Independence Day !!!!
07.01 *Another helpful planetary event is Mars moving into Virgo, the sign of ‘detail-oriented doing’, as of this past Tuesday. So if the apex of the season, the recent Midsummer Solstice, revealed to you that much needs to be done, Mars in Virgo is just what the Celestial Goddess/Doctor ordered!!!
07.02 *very late, the Moon became NEW in the sign of Cancer, setting a theme for the new moon cycle of Nurturing — self, others, your town, your state, your country, the planet, the Universe (chose your scope ;^). Things may have felt ‘endy’ at the beginning of the week, and they WERE, but by Thursday morning, starting on new things is now ‘en vogue’ on the self/home front. Perhaps that’s why yours truly is laundering, cleaning and vacuuming with a simply joy during this holiday weekend. (I know, that’s only one theory…).
07.18.08 *Very early this morning the moon became full in Capricorn, the sign of work, effort, structure, progress, planning and (ultimately) success. No, not really a ‘party moon’ — you’d want Leo for that vibe, or other fire or even air signs for that matter.
What element is Capricorn? Earth, and not the earthy, loamy, comforting focus of Taurus earth, nor the healthy, orderly, pharmacy shelf orientation of Virgo earth, but the kind of effort and ooomph of a construction site, the earth energy that builds cities — that is arena of Capricorn finesse and expertise.
So whatever you have brewing in the area of your worldly concerns should have your attention right now and may even make progress or find resolution in the next 2 weeks preceding the next New Moon.
08.01.08 *On Friday, August 1st, our New Moon will eclipse the sun in Leo, adding just a bit of drama to the proceedings…however…this party has already started!!!
Over years of astrological observation, a “shadow effect) has been noted and defined around the actual eclipse event, to the tune of 10 days before and three days afterward. Eclipses are mysterious, in that their effects are not really detectable (they’re obscured, actually) until 6 months later, however during this period of time (in this case, from LAST Tuesday through next Monday) we will all be feeling stirred up, possibly like pots of vegetable soup.
Meaning? Pay attention by try not to act or reaact more than necessary. No need to hide under your bed for 14 days, do what needs to be done. but no more. This feeling, that one, and those of other make this time period–interesting (are you seeing this? I am…) but just watch those beans, corn and garlic cloves float by, without trying to define or ‘call it’ any particular kind of veggie soup at the moment. AND there will be plenty to learn!!! Peace is important now…
08.16.08 *Lunacity reigns…have you been feeling the energy rising…and rising more?
Full Moon eclipse on Saturday afternoon in Aquarius is bound to be heady, crazy, creative, change quickly and keep you up late. No matter, just ride the wave, interact, write down those off-the-wall ideas — just don’t sign anything or say “I do”.
As usual (if anything is) with eclipses, the fray won’t settle for 3 days henceforth from that peak moment, and the full compliment of events set in motion during this time be realized only near the end of the next 6 months (the Presidential race comes to mind here…). So literally, it will be a ‘cold day in your neck of the woods‘ (if you live in the Northeast) when current events starts to make sense.
So, hold on to the railings (if present) & enjoy the ride!
08.30.08 *
Best to all Astro-followers and the Astro-curious during this most un-conventional Convention season!!
Today, Saturday, at 3:30ish this afternoon EDT, the
Moon
become
New in the sign of
Virgo — starting a Moon cycle which carries the Virgoan energy of practical ‘earthy’ attention to detail, yet also “gives you plenty of energy to accomplish something that’s meaningful and inspiring.” (
astrology.com)
Think about what’s important for you and your progress right now, project-wise, and assemble the nuts & bolts steps. Then begin!
You’ll probably feel more ready to do this by late afternoon. It’s amazing how strong and immediate moon shifts can be felt, with a bit of practice ;^). Certain worth the attempts to tune in!
I just read longtime wiccan political/spiritual activist Starhawk’s latest missive on her plans to protest at the Rep National Convention which begins soon in the Twin Cities and that she had also wanted to protest the Dems, but felt with their limited resources, the Reps were much more ‘in need’ of protesting.
This was a sobering reminder to me that corporate bucks are on both sides of the only two major parties we have here in the U.S., influencing policy, representation, and outcome — and that in a true Democracy, there are no saviors — we all need to learn about what’s going on, have conversations, vote, and find a venue, local or national, where our voices can be heard and where we can make a difference. Voting is only the first step.
As 2012 approaches, thinking globally, sustainably — evolving in these ways — is more than just a good idea, it has become critical and crucial.
09.03.08 *Sun conjuncts Saturn (in Virgo) — strongly supporting beginning new work
09.04.08 *Sun trines Jupiter (in Capricorn) – signalling a great time for creating work partnerships with people further along in your field who can help you. Work with them on new projects.(great for all of us new interns starting out!).
09.07.08 *Jupiter (retrograde since May 9th) turns direct.
09.08.08 *Pluto (retrograde since April) turns direct.
As when Mercury goes direct, what has been largely introspective during the retrograde is now ready to move ahead and manifest & both together signify that that message of ”Change”, which now seems to be coming from, um, every campaign stump one encounters, we can impliment no matter what ‘they’ do or do not do – in our lives.
Move ahead, expand your lives and thinking, transcend the personal and evolve, nothing less is the Universal potential at the moment!
There’s alot to do –
–just today a NYT update says “84,000 jobs shed in August” (shed?? I thought was an odd word since it signifies something one doesn’t want or need…)
–the activist Starhawk and her people as well as independent journalists Amy Goodman (Democracy Now!) and her crew, and 100′s of others have been harassed, injured and arrested as they peacefully protested outside the Republican Convention (apparently having a voice in American is considered threatening these days)
–we have a woman on the VP Rep ticket who does not prioritize freedom for anyone, including the other member of her gender
–and you can all fill in your causes to make the list long and even more challenging……
09.24.08 *Mercury goes retrograde on Wednesday, September 24th until October 15th in…Libra, offering a challenge to be true in relating (at work, at home, on the job, you name it), not merely cooperative.
So, get your car work, etc. done by Wednesday then there may be some benefits to reap–in light of the heady forward momentum now in progress–from the next 3 weeks of re-treat, re-view, re-do, re-new….you get it…
10.15 *Mercury, after a few days of slow down, will go direct on Weds afternoon, the 15th and start up his forward motion once again.
Meanwhile, the
Full Moon in the sign of fiery action, Aries, tomorrow, may have us all chomping at the bit to be out of the starting gate a bit prematurely, like I was this morning — raring to get to work however, only to realize that many others were not at other work places to work
with…nonetheless, the situation will remedy itself by the end of the week.
10.28.08 *on a very drenchingly rainy night here in the Northeast and mere minutes into the New Moon, which is currently in the unabridged, get-to-the-root-of-life, gut-oriented sign of Scorpio.
The week is promisingly full of great energy that should support our last 7 days of movement towards energies that promise “Change” rather than mere all-too-familiar “Structure” for the upcoming Election!!!
For those of you with one foot still in the “Universe is just random” camp, you may be intrigued to know that the Uranus/Saturn relationships right now present multiple opportunities for choices between Structure/Experience and Change. Funny, how these themes just happen to coincide with world events (?do they?).
11.04.08 *Additionally, on Tuesday (Election Day, need I say…) Mercury’s gander into Scorpio will have people thinking seriously, and as deeply as they can, about what they are doing. There’s going to be nothing superficial about November 4th…
So on this New

MOON

, focus on what you care about,
follow your passion, think about the long term, and know that therein lies what is really satisfying in life!
And don’t neglect your investment in yourself, it will help everyone else.

THANKSGIVING…as it’s time once again to negotiate the holiday season’s often complex landscape of memories, expectations and, yes, potential for healing. This powerful time is especially fortified this year by added cosmic forces.
Feeling the benefits of sharing this info as I write, it occurs to me to say that leading with ones heart is a ‘sure fire’ way to have a meaningful season, not to mention Life!
Certainly the gift of love is within every budget, even this year ;^).
With this in mind….the latest planetary events:
Wednesday, November 26: Pluto re-enters Capricorn ~ The last time Pluto sailed into Capricorn, the year was 1778, just as our United States was beginning an adventure in democracy, freedom and governance thereof. How interesting that our exciting election has resulted in new governing energy once again, as the Capricornian focus of structure, building and leadership is now in the spotlight. Issues of building your own life are undoubtedly on your mind as well. It’s time for the ‘long haul’ — Pluto will be in Cap until 2024!!!
Thursday, November 27: Uranus turns direct & New Moon in Sagittarius ~ Are you feeling restless or rebellious? Retorgrade since this past June, when the independent planetary energies of Uranus change direction, its power is strong. You, yourself, may be noticing your tired, worn-out and unrewarding old habits!! Liberate yourself from them! Embrace change and be flexible. But no need to plan any 180′s, (planning isn’t really the point here ;^), they’ll come along soon enough…
Additionally, let the fresh energy of the new Moon
in aim-oriented Sagittarius help you in your efforts!
As the ruler of Aquarius, Uranian energy is about taking everyone into consideration as you make decisions in life — and everyone includes you, by the way. (Not including yourself is mere sacrifice — avoid this imbalance!) The wise ones hint that this all-inclusiveness helps us find the the trail to happiness. I feel they’re on to something…
12.12.08 *On this ‘night before’ of pouring rain here in Philly, you would not guess from gazing heavenward that tomorrow morning at 8:30 am EST, the Moon is full in Gemini, sign of communication, cerebration. I hope for everyone, some moments of celebration, as the holiday season deepens, semesters conclude, solstice fires are lit, one years ends and another begins.
The moon energy may be particularly strong, as well, the moon tomorrow being part of a celestial Grand Cross: opposed (as necessary) to the Sun, where Mars is currently hanging out, and squaring the opposition of Uranus and Saturn (you may need to draw a diagram if you are unaccustomed to visualizing such things ~ or ~ just know they’re there.)
In this energetic climate, you probably have some holiday parties this weekend or coming up soon.
12.27.08 *
Holiday greetings to you and yours, especially on the

New Moon, which happened this AM,
Saturday, December 27th, at 7:33 am, EST. Not all ‘exact times’ for celestial angles (for example: with planets further out) are significant, however the Moon’s seems to be. With a little practice, you can feel the shift in energy, perhaps in this case, between last night and this morning, unless you were up before dawn cracked…
This time of year presents multiple opportunities to contemplate the past year, resolve quandries and craft future goals,
yet today may be the most energized and powerful of the lot, because powerful Pluto and energizing Mars (conjunct only every two years) are hovering together with the moon out there in alignment, just waiting for our Santa list of wishes, wants and plans. And your determined work toward them. So you may want to set them now and just ’chill’ on New Years Eve!
Frankly, this moon brings out the ‘railroading’ side of everyone, making the pushy pushier and even the shy may have glimmers of boldness, so make sure you’re at the helm of your own ship as you set your sails for success. Bump aside those who may ‘over-helpfully’ be trying to assist you in steering.
Feelings run high during all New Moons so keep a firm hand in that realm as well, O Captain ;^). Pour passionate feeling into those dreams and goals. There’s no time like now.
